World War One Essay Assignment

Write a five paragraph essay about whether or not you think the Treaty of Versailles solved the problems that caused WWI.

Include an introductory paragraph explaining the causes of the war.  Then write three body paragraphs explaining three examples of what the Treaty of Versailles did about these problems.  Then conclude with your opinion about whether the Treaty of Versailles was actually a “Peace” treaty that attempted to bring about world wide peace.

In the introductory paragraph, define each of the four causes and explain how each led to world-wide war. Then the last sentence (Thesis Statement) should be your opinion about whether the Treaty of Versailles solved these problems.

Each body paragraph should start with a topic sentence telling which cause of WWI that paragraph is about. The second sentence should give an example of how that cause worked before WWI. The next sentence should explain what Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points said about that cause. The last sentence should tell what the Treaty of Versailles did regarding that cause.

The conclusion should redefine the three causes, explain what Wilson wanted to do about them and explain what the Treaty of Versailles did about them. The last sentence should summarize whether you think the Treaty of Versailles solved the problems that caused WWI.
